Camargue red rice is a relatively new variety of rice cultivated in the wetlands of the Camargue region of southern France.
It is a short-grained and unmilled variety of rice it is very slightly sticky when cooked and not meant to be separate and fluffy .
It is a brownish-red colour .
There are other red rices that are grown in America, however, this one, from France, is of superior quality.
Its character as earthy and gutsy, with a firm, slightly chewy texture and a nutty flavour.
It is excellent in salads and combined with other strong flavours. |
